Rules and Regulations
SAFETY
BRIEFING: Attendance is required for each
participant and will be held one hour prior to the start
of the event (3pm). We will discuss up-to-the-minute official
changes, details, maps, equipment, course safety and restrictions.
Any and all questions about the event must be presented prior
to or during the briefing.
CHECKPOINTS:
Checkpoints are set up at specific locations. Each checkpoint
attendant will log, get the signature of and clear each participant.
If it is determined by event personnel that a participant should
for any reason, based on safety, times, welfare, health, weather,
support, equipment, the event itself, failure to check in and
out, or any other preparedness or cause, shall not continue, they
will be removed from the event. Any and all decisions, based on
the letter of the law or the spirit of the law, are at the discretion
of event officials and are FINAL.
RULES: Rules are designed for
the purpose of safety, uniqueness in event and fairness for yourself
as well as the other participants. Participants must adhere to
the rules to remain in the event.
There
are only two divisions of participant: Women’s and Men’s.
***Racers must check in by 2:00pm on the day of the Event. Try
to make it as early as you can to facilitate the quickest registration
possible.
PAYMENT INFO: There
is a $350 entry fee up until NOON on August 10th, 2007. After
that, the fee will increase to $400 until registration closes
at 2pm on August 24th, 2007. All online transactions are Credit
Card Only. We Accept VISA and MasterCard (either Credit or Debit)
for online
transactions.
1: The same bicycle frame must be used by the
same participant for the duration of the event.
2: All participants must have, and are required
to wear at all times on their person, a helmet and gloves.
3: No secondary transport equipment is allowed
[e.g., skis, sleds, parachutes], only bicycle and human power.
4: A participant must follow routes as described
in writing, or officially
amended at event briefing, for the entire event.
5: The course is not marked. A participant should
ride the course ahead of time. He/she must have full knowledge
of the routing of the portion of the course or loops of the course
that he/she plans to ride prior to riding that portion/loop during
the event.
6: Lack of knowledge of the event, of the racer
briefing, of course routing, of location of checkpoints, or of
the event rules, is not acceptable defense in the occurrence of
a protest or adjustment of time or position by officials.
7: A participant must be within 1 hour of the
leader on the S&M Loops [Loops 1 & 2] and within 3 hours
of the leader on the "Night Loop". Under no circumstances
shall a racer leave on the #4-Grays/Torres Loop after official
sunrise.
8: A one minute minimum is required at each checkpoint,
where you, the participant, must personally sign in, verify your
condition with the event officials and your intention to continue
or to pull out.
9: Each participant must present at least 30
inches of reflective tape anywhere on the rear portion of his
or her cycle and or clothing that will be worn for the entire
event. Officials will check all reflective requirments at specified.
checkpoint.
10: A support crew & vehicle is required
on the night loop. This can be supported on most of the route
by a 2-wheel drive vehicle. However, all support vehicles must
have a 3’x 3’ highly visible sign attached to the
back of the vehicle with the words "BIKE RIDERS AHEAD".
Do not block your license plates or tail lights. Your emergency
flashers must be on at all times that you are not maintaining
the normal speed of traffic. The day loops are not attainable
the entire way by vehicle and crews are encouraged to set up base
in Montezuma.
11: A participant or support crew must notify
the next checkpoint dow-lineor Revenge Headquarters if for any
reason you, the participant, are not able to continue the event.
Failure to do so could result in notification of law enforcement
officers, Search & Rescue, emergency services and/or the cancellation
of the entire event-- all of which could be billed to you for
payment.
12: The official Night Loop Checkpoint is at
TBA Check Point. Before departing on the night loop, each
participant is required to have installed/ attached, 4 separate
lighting devices that are visible, in working condition, and
illuminated.
One front head-light/lamp providing steady bright continuous light.
One rear tail-light/lamp providing steady bright continuous light.
One rear strobe flashing/blinking light/lamp providing bright
light.
Rear reflective tape measuring at least 30 inches in length must
be placed on the bike or clothing or backpack that will be used
for the entire event.
AT LEAST ONE FRONT LIGHT AND ONE REAR LIGHT IS TO REMAIN ON DURING
DARK HOURS REGARDLESS OF LOCATION ON COURSE. EXCEPTIONS MADE WHEN
PORTAGING OR CARRYING YOUR BIKE.
13: No drafting is allowed during any portion
of the event. No other racer, support person nor any other person,
may be in front of or give the appearance of being in front of
any racer at any time. Support crews are allowed alongside a participant
on bike or foot and may carry any support for the participant
except the participant’s bicycle and its normal
components.
14: Any and all decisions, based on either the
letter of the law or the spirit of the law, are at the discretion
of event officials and are FINAL.
